Beach Information

Agonda Beach, is situated in the southernmost Canacona district of Goa. This 3 km stretch of silvery sandy beach lies at a convenient distance of 37 kms from the town of Margo. It is a perfect spot for relaxing, swimming and sunbathing and features few tourists. The weather in Agonda Beach is warm and the best time to visit the beach is between the months of October to March when the beach is filled with bustling activities. The visitors come to this beach to enjoy some time in solitude . People who are up for adventure can enjoy boat rides.

The Agonda beach is flanked by tall palm trees and the large hills lying in its backdrop make for a scenic sight to enjoy. While being at the Agonda Beach enjoy the scenic view of spectacular beach, endless blue ocean and swaying palm trees. The beach is famous amongst the tourists as the nesting site of  endangered Ridley turtles.

Attractions

Cabo de Rama:

Cabo De Rama is the ancient fort of the Canacona taluka and is situated in the southern part of Goa. Erected on an elevated platform it also has a church known as Santo Antonio and provides for great views of the azure sea.  If the legends are to be believed Lord Rama along with wife Sita stayed here during exile. The remains of the ruin fort are still left with the rusty cannons and turrets reminding one of the Portuguese era.

Galgibaga Beach:

Galgibaga Beach is very famous amongst the tourists as a nesting place for turtles. Being at this beach enjoy  the serene coastal strip that stretches over 1.5 km along the Arabian sea.

Mallikarjun Temple:

Mallikarjun Temple, located near the Agonda beach at Shristhal is one of the popular religious centers. According to the legends Arjuna (one of the Pandava brother) fought with demon Malla here . This temple is considered to be one of the oldest shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and was commissioned by Habu Brahmins in the 16th century. 

Chandranath Temple:

Chandranath Temple is the temple dedicated to Chandreshwar, who is regarded as the incarnation of Lord Shiva. Situated at a height of 350 m atop the chandranath hill, the temple has an ancient chariot kept on display in its premises and is famous for its woodcarvings.  According to locals the milk oozes from the Shivalinga on the occurrence of celestial events.

Swimming (subject to water level):

Swimming is one of the activities that can be enjoyed at Agonda Beach but it is advised to undertake swimming only after considering the water level of the sea.

Sunbathing:

Enjoy relaxing and allow your body to absorb a lot of vitamin D while you laze around lying on this magnificent beach.

Sightseeing:

Explore this tranquil beach for its majestic views and scenic surroundings. The azure water of the sea makes you feel relaxed along with having a soothing effect on you.
